Serving Whidbey Island families...

A warm welcome to you...I’m so glad you’re here!  Based on Whidbey Island in Washington state, I provide community midwifery care, including pre-conception and fertility support, internal pelvic balancing, consultation in navigating birth options, and Spinning Babies® Aware bodywork.

Navigating Birth Options
Consultation To Support You On Your Journey

Having worked in both as a home birth midwife and in hospital as a labor and delivery nurse, at the end of life as well as the beginning, I can offer you a unique perspective in navigating your options.

Folks have come to me in the past to discuss:

  • Supporting natural/physiologic birth in the hospital setting

  • Essential birth skills for parents considering unattended/freebirth

  • Preparing for birth when things did not go as planned last time

You are welcome to schedule a single session or to meet with me for ongoing support.  We can meet via Zoom or in person if you’re in the Seattle/Whidbey area.

Bodywork For Breech
Spinning Babies® Aware Support

Spinning Babies® is an approach looking at the space available for babies in pregnancy and birth.  Through body balancing work and daily activities, we support more space in the womb and opportunity for a spontaneous change to a more optimal fetal position.

Who is this work for? Anyone with…
  • Discomfort in pregnancy

  • Breech or transverse baby after 30 weeks

  • Before an ECV (External Cephalic Version)

  • A previous difficult birth

  • Desire for more ease, connection, and release

Sessions include:

  • An intake and assessment

  • Anatomy and physiology review to support technique understanding

  • Hands on work, as needed

  • Availability for follow up questions

  • Counseling for options

Sessions start with a 30 minute meeting via Zoom to discuss your intake form and answer any questions or concerns you have.  I typically give some suggestions of things you can do on your own before we meet in person for a hands on session.  If you are not local to the Seattle/Whidbey area, I can continue support via Zoom.

Pre-Conception and Fertility Support
An individualized and holistic approach
This is an aspect of midwifery care that is near and dear to my heart!  I would love to be there for you in your process.  Our time is tailored to what YOU need.

Some folks come to me needing instruction on charting cycles, navigating nutrition/supplements/herbs, or understanding conception sex/sperm transfer.

For others, it’s less about education and more about being witnessed and supported in where they’re at–-physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually…It’s all welcome!

Some also feel called to receive care via fertility massage or ritual.

Sessions can occur over Zoom, or if you’re local to the Seattle/Whidbey area, in person.

Midwifery

Pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

If you are looking for a midwife on or near Whidbey Island, I offer care for pre-conception, pregnancy, birth, and beyond.  In you are out of the Whidbey/Skagit/Seattle area, but looking for support via phone/online, I'm happy to chat with you about what you are looking for.

Philosophy of Care

Birth is sacred.  Birth is a rite of passage.  Birth is a time of transformation.

Midwifery care is rooted in trust, transparency, and relationship.  Prenatal visits can be comfortable and low key.  We can meet in my home office, have tea, go for a walk, make a meal together, or I can come to your home and offer bodywork.

The primary prenatal care comes from YOU!  Pregnancy provides an opportunity to look at how you nourish yourself, attune to what you need, and work with any fears that come up.  My role as a midwife is to walk alongside you, to be available with information or a listening ear, to celebrate with you, and to be a solid support.

A midwife’s primary tools are her heart and her hands.  In the modern world we have access to lab work and testing, too.  These things can complement and support--but not supplant--our original tools.  Midwives steep themselves in understanding the physiologic design. The better we understand the physiology of birth, the more we know when to step back and when to step in.  This is the art of midwifery.

I am acutely aware that how we support birth today affects the generations of tomorrow. This weaving is both an individual and a collective practice. We weave for ourselves, for our children, and for a more beautiful world.
